Searching Potential Plant Species for Biodiesel Production
During the summer of 2008, Dr. Chakrabarti and summer intern, Deana Seabrook (Biology Major), screened lipid content in many crop and weed seed species by ether extraction and then processing biodiesel (methyl ester of fatty acids). In 2009 Dr. Chakrabarti and a summer intern will be screening for the cheapest material source for ethanol production. If interested in joining Dr. Chakrabarti in this project please contact him in person.
