South Carolina State University

Introduction to Microsoft Office 95

This session teaches the integral uses of Microsoft Office packages: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. It will include an introduction to the software, how the applications work together or individually, and answers specific questions from the participants. This is a hands-on training session. * Participants should have "point and click" mouse skills and some knowledge of the Windows menus.

Teaching On-line

Learn in this two hour session the approach to putting your course work on-line for access from a local server only or from the World Wide Web. This method has been used successfully in a number of courses at South Carolina State University. It can easily be adapted to any grade level. On-line teaching modules, computer grading, and measurement of course work metrics will be discussed. · Integrating the Internet into The Classroom Curriculum Learn how the Internet can be a part of the curriculum, visit various sites on the internet. Methods will be demonstrated on how to effectively utilize your E-mail and the World Wide Web in the classroom.

Web Publishing: Hardware and Software

The session will provide an introductory overview of the various hardware and software used for development of a web page. Hardware, such as scanners and digital cameras, will be discussed. Software packages for HTML editing, graphic design, and photo editing will be covered.

Microprocessor, Memory, Motherboard

The Basic Computer Anatomy Are you planning to purchase a computer, or upgrading and confused about the meaning of terms like RAM, cache, and motherboard? This session will clear up the confusion. Included will be a grand tour of the inside of a computer.

Voorhees College

Fundamentals of Networking

This session explains basic and general terminology used in networking, such as the hardware of the network: hub, switch, CSU/ DSU, and others. The important role and use of cable and fiber in the network will be covered. An explanation of how data is transmitted and how it travels through the various components will be discussed.

Pine (E-mail )

This session provides an overview of how to use e-mail and how it can enhance communication. It will explain how to send e-mail with Pine and how to use folders to manage your mail. This is a training workshop, plenty of hands-on.

Configuring Your Server

Configuring a server is a lot easier than you think. In this session, two system administrators will begin with an introduction to UNIX and then discuss and demonstrate how to set up and configure Mail, DNS and WWW servers in UNIX and Windows NT.
