Teacher Professional Development Session

Teachers from middle schools and high schools across South Carolina are invited to participate in this special training session to acquaint them with standards-based educational materials and lesson plans developed by the MESSENGER team. NASA's MESSENGER mission is scheduled to launch in July or August 2004 and to enter an orbit around Mercury in March 2011. Come learn about resources available for integration into your science curriculum. Stephanie Stockman, from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, will facilitate the training. Ms. Stockman has been a Mars researcher and currently is the Education/Public Outreach Project Manager and Team Lead for the MESSENGER mission.
Teachers attending will receive a $50 stipend plus a mileage supplement. Participants will be given certificates for four hours of continuing education credit. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Preregistration is required. The registration deadline is April 16, 2004 . Since the training session is limited to 24 participants, early registration is recommended.
